Personal Contract Hire (PCH) - How Does it Work?

As the name suggests Personal Contract Hire (also known as personal leasing) is simply contract hire but for individuals

Advance Payment Rentals

Having chosen your vehicle and decided on your initial rental payment you will need to make three decisions that will affect the monthly payments:

The Rental Payment Period: you can choose any period between 24 and 60 months.

Mileage per year: choose how many miles you expect to drive each year.

Servicing: Choose if you wish to include a maintenance contract.

As little as one rental Spread across 24 to 60 months Option to include maintenance Vehicle returned to contract hire company

What benefits does Personal Contract Hire offer me?

Contract Hire is ideal for customers simply wanting to pay a fixed monthly rental for the vehicle and have no disposal risk.

No concerns over ownership or disposal the vehicle remains the property of the Leasing Company throughout the agreement.

There is no additional/balloon payment at the end of the agreement, the vehicle is simply returned to the lease company.

You can build in a service, maintenance, breakdown cover and tyres plan into your agreement. If a Maintenance Contract is added, all routine maintenance and repairs will be paid for, including tyres, batteries, exhausts, etc. subject to normal wear and tear.
You are liable to recharges in the event of accidental damage / abuse or neglect.

Why might Contract Hire not be right for me?

If you want to have ownership of the vehicle at any stage.

You want the flexibility to change your vehicle part way through the agreement as early termination fees can be expensive.

What are my responsibilities?

You are responsible for Fully Comprehensive Insurance throughout the agreement, (you must inform your insurers you are not the registered owner or keeper of the vehicle). If you go over the mileage you anticipated when starting your agreement, excess mileage charges will apply. If during your agreement, you think you will go over your anticipated mileage, please contact CBVC to discuss options that may be available. Note. Not all Leasing companies allow amendments and extensions to PCH contracts.

You will be required to service the vehicle in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, this is at your cost if a maintenance agreement is not taken.

Please check your quote for the duration of Road Fund Licence included within the agreement. Should rates of duty change during the included period you will be invoiced for any increase as it falls due.

It is important to keep your vehicle in good condition as this will affect the value of the vehicle, you may be charged for any damage beyond fair wear and tear.

Be aware:

Any motor related fines and penalties will be passed on by the leasing company and may also be subject to an administration fee.

There may be additional interest and fees if your payment is missed and this may impact your credit file.

Can I end my agreement early?

Yes, although we offer contract from 2 to 5 years, you can terminate the agreement at any stage. Whilst your total liability extends to the sum of the outstanding rentals plus any damage and pro rata excess mileage, some leasing companies will give a rebate of up to 50% of the outstanding rentals.

What happens at the end of my agreement?

You simply pay any outstanding monies and hand back the vehicle to the finance company in good condition. You will be charged if you have exceeded the mileage allowance or the vehicle is damaged.

Will I own the vehicle?

No, you are hiring the vehicle and will hand it back at the end of the agreement.
